Friends, family and supporters of Jess & Jim’s Steakhouse joined the South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the owners of Jess & Jim’s Steakhouse on Thursday, May 21st for an official ribbon cutting celebration of the opening of their new outdoor patio and fire pit. Watch owners Mike and Debbie VanNoy cut the ribbon in the short video below:

Jess & Jim’s new patio sits to the east side of the restaurant and is connected through the bar area. They opened up the enclosed bar entrance by tearing down the main outside wall of the building and have installed new windows to give an open view of the patio from the inside. It’s gorgeous!

History of Jess and Jim’s Steakhouse

Jess and Jim’s Steak House opened for business in April of 1938, by two best friends, Jess Kincaid and Jim Wright. The business was originally located on the corner of 135th and Holmes Road until the tornado in 1957 moved them to their present location at 517 East 135th Street. Although they were farther south of the city than most, they believed that good food, good service, and fair prices would make the drive worthwhile. Out of this theory became what we know today as “Jess & Jim’s Steak House”.
