In 2005, over 70 businesses in the Martin City area joined together to create a Community Improvement District to foster economic growth. On May 11th, 2016, the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, MO, honored the Martin City Community Improvement District as one of 10 Cornerstone Award winners at Union Station.
While the CID knew going in they won a Cornerstone Award, the Martin City CID was surprised to find out we had also won the “People’s Choice Award” which was a ten-day public vote on Facebook. A huge THANK YOU to all of the businesses and community members who helped spread the word and rally votes for us to win this award. It is a direct reflection of the hard work countless people have put into Martin City to bring more vibrancy to our district. We could not have done this without you!
