Rosehill Gardensa local residential and commercial landscape company in Martin City, has provided landscaping services to some of the most iconic developments in Kansas City, including Sprint World Headquarters in Overland Park, KS, Arrowhead and Kauffman stadiums, and the Honeywell National Security plant in South Kansas City, Missouri….just to name a few. We are excited to announce they can now add the new Cerner 3-Trails Campus to that list!

Proclaimed the largest economic development project in Missouri’s history, Cerner’s sprawling campus is a massive 11-year undertaking expected to open its last tower in 2025. According to Rosehill Gardens’ co-owner Curtis Stroud, the opportunity came from a long-time partnership with Cerner.

“We’ve done landscaping, maintenance, and snow removal work with Cerner for many years,” says Stroud. “When the Trails campus project came up, Gary Weidenbach, Rosehill’s co-owner and his staff were involved with planning the landscaping from the beginning. Our staff worked on winning the project for over a year before it was awarded to us.”

At this time, Rosehill’s contract with Cerner is only for phase one of a multiple phase, 10-year project. “It will be a beautiful campus for Cerner and something Kansas City will be proud of for a long time,” says Stroud. “Rosehill Gardens has been open since 1914, and we are thrilled to work on another landmark Kansas City project.”

Stroud and his staff received the news about winning the bid in January and immediately went to work on the project. They have since been hard at work growing additional grass, trees and shrubs required to bring Cerner’s vision to life.

“We are able to grow most of the materials ourselves in our own nursery, which gives us a competitive advantage over other landscaping companies,” says Stroud. “From a quality perspective, we can provide the highest-quality materials in Kansas City.”

Rosehill typically reduces staff during the winter months but the scope and size of the Cerner project will require additional staff year-round to meet demands. This means more jobs are available in Martin City! “We usually lay people off during the winter, which means we risk losing good people when it comes time to re-hire in the spring,” says Stroud. “As a result of the Cerner project, we’ve kept more people on staff this past winter to provide us the consistency and high-quality work we need. It’s all hands on deck, all year-round now.”

Stroud says he hopes Rosehill will work on the entire 3-Trails campus project, which could bring in upwards of $18-$20M in landscape design and installation work by the time the project is complete. It would be double the size of any project Rosehill has ever worked on.

“Our goal isn’t to complete phase one and move on,” says Stroud. “We hope to continue a great relationship with Cerner as phase one rolls into phase two and beyond. We want to see the whole project through from start to finish.”

Stroud says even though Rosehill Gardens is involved in major projects like the Cerner deal, they are still committed to servicing residential and commercial needs throughout Kansas City.
