The 135th Street public improvement project is divide up into three phases.  Phase 1, completed in 2014, includes the section of 135th Street between Holmes Road and Oak Street.  Phase 2, under construction in 2016, includes the section of 135th Street between Oak Street and Wornall Road.  Phase 3, pending construction, includes the section of 135th Street between Wornall Road and Hwy 150.  More details regarding each phase are outlined below.  The 135th Street public improvement project is a  joint project of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, Jackson County, and Martin City CID.

Phase 1 along 135th Street: COMPLETED

The public improvements in Phase 1  included the following:

  • New 60-66” storm water drainage system;
  • Replacement of the 12” water main line;
  • New traffic signal at Holmes & 135th Street;
  • New on-street parking;
  • New street lights; and
  • New street surface

Phase 2 along 135thth Street: COMPLETED

The public improvements in Phase 2 included the following:

  • New 60-66” storm water drainage system;

Completion of improvements along Phase 2 were completed in October 2016.

Phase 3 along 135th Street: PENDING

The public improvements in Phase 3 include the following:

  • New 60-66” storm water drainage system;
  • Replacement of the 12” water main line;
  • New street lights; and
  • New street surface

Phase 3 Construction Update

The Martin City CID will be asking the City’s Public Improvements Advisory Committee to consider the recommendation of providing the City’s public works department an estimated $3 million to finish Phase 3 of the 135th Street Public Improvements Project (Wornall Road to M-150). If funds were approve for the construction of Phase 3, work would begin late 2017.
