Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Martin City’s “3rd Thursday” on the Tracks, and our 2nd annual holiday lighting event November 19th! Organized by The Martin City Business and Community Association, together with the Martin City CID, the night was filled with holiday cheer and merriment by all. Everyone gathered at the Bailey Bros. Building & Loan Building, where Santa came out to greet the chanting crowd before lighting up the district for the holiday season.
After the lights were flipped on, a fun crowd of runners took part in an Ugly Sweater run, sponsored by The KC Running Company. The colorfully dressed runners headed down 135th street for a 3-4 mile untimed groupie run and were greeted at the finish by hot chocolate and cookies, provided by the Google Fiber team!
Santa borrowed a “sleigh” for the night from Rob Sight Ford to visit the stops along the “3rd Thursday” route. Revelers had their chance to take photos and tell the big man himself their Christmas wishes.
Back at The Bailey Bros. Building & Loan Association, Santa took photos with children and a few four legged friends that came to visit. Guests left with lasting memories thanks to The Photo Bus KC, who printing off postcard copies.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our 2015 “3rd Thursdays on the Tracks” and holiday lighting event a success. We look forward to welcoming 3rd Thursday back again in the Spring, as phase II construction provides us more sidewalks!
