Martin City Says Goodbye To Missy Wilson, Outgoing MCCID Executive Director

Who remembers this day….December 1, 2013, MCCID Transfer of Power from Barb Engel to Missy Wilson?! The official story is still out there on the original Martin City WordPress blog!

Wilson accepted a wonderful new position with the City of Raytown and began her new role on April 1st. She will continue working with the MCCID on a part-time, as-needed basis until the new Executive Director is familiar with the job, which among other things, includes the third phase of a major infrastructure project.

Wilson oversaw the completion of the 135th Public Improvements – Phases I and II, which involved adding a new street lane along with new on-street parking spaces, brand new sidewalks, a 12” waterline was replaced, street lighting was upgraded, a new storm sewer was added, new curbs and gutters, new pavement and a new traffic signal at Wornall were also added.

To date, the Martin City CID has funded $600,000 for expenses, including design costs, right-of-way acquisition, and the installation of brick pavers, sidewalks, landscaping, hanging basket poles, and other aesthetic enhancements.

In 2016, Martin City attracted over $12 million in new investments and has added over 1000 employees to the district. Martin City has experienced tremendous growth and MCCID board members say this might not have been the case without Wilson’s leadership.

To thank her, the Martin City Board of Director’s held a special farewell dinner at Jess & Jim’s Steakhouse. Katrina Foster from Councilman Scott Taylor’s office was in attendance to present Wilson with an official proclamation from the City of Kansas City, Missouri for her leadership, service, and dedication to the Martin City Community Improvement District. Curtis Stroud, Owner of Rosehill Gardens said they were all very proud to see Wilson recognized in this way and appreciate how hard she’s worked to put Martin City on the map.

Karyn Brooke, Owner of Sidelines Custom Floral, and President of the Martin City Business and Community Association (MCBCA) presented Wilson with a gift basket from the MCBCA board members, and ThinkViral had everyone in attendance sign an original caricature painting of Wilson so she would have something from Martin City to hang in her new office!

Thank you to all the board members, association members, CID members, and friends, who came out to say farewell to Wilson (even though we all know she’s only a phone call away!). An even bigger Thank You goes out to Missy Wilson, for all the big things, little things, and the millions of other things she has helped us with over the past four years.

She has been an incredible leader in guiding us through the process of creating and growing a technology, manufacturing, arts, and retail district we can all be proud of. We wish you all the best in your new position in Raytown, Missy. They are lucky to have you!
