Get Hits 4 Education and Barnstormers Baseball have agreed to terms with Jackson County Parks and Recreation to begin renovating and developing youth baseball facilities in the Kansas City metro. The first of the projects will kick off this summer with the renovation of a four-field complex at 140th and Holmes Road in Martin City, resulting in a brand new tournament and training facility once improvements are complete.  The project budget is estimated at $500,000.

Improvements to be made have been identified as:

  • New fencing and backstops
  • Expansion of two fields to approximately 385ft to accommodate high school and college players
  • Irrigation system
  • Grass infields
  • New entry with an improved driveway
  • Parking improvements

Final contract and approval are expected by early June with renovation plans to begin immediately.

Final designs and site work will be completed over the summer with the major fieldwork commencing in the Fall.  The project timeline shows the newly renovated facility would be ready for play in the Spring of 2015 with a full complement of tournaments to be scheduled for the year.  The plans for this facility at capacity will bring 20 youth baseball tournaments throughout the year in addition to the training camps and showcases that will take place.

Additionally, a new scout league for the Fall will be formed to be based out of this location.  In order for this project to reach its potential, it is imperative that the community continues to support it and local business partnerships are formed.  The area will benefit from increased traffic from the region as well as the metro.
