THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who helped us kick off our Third Thursday event, The Martin Talks, with KSquared, Katie Van Luchene and Kimberly Winter Stern, at The Martin Event Space on Thursday, June 16th! The Martin City Business and Community Association worked hard to plan this fun event that brought in people from all over the Kansas City metro!

Appetizers and Cocktails

Guests enjoyed complimentary decadent appetizers and Purple Train cocktails from Martin City Brewery as they mingled before the speakers took the stage. The Martin also had a cash bar open to try other cocktails and beer. The main event rule was that whenever a train came through, everyone had to drink! We are not above drinking games here in Martin City! When the train blew its horn as it came through Martin City, everyone raised their glass and took a drink (which were absolutely delicious, by the way).

The Martin Talks guests

Guest speakers, Jasper of Jasper’s Restaurant, Erin of Erin Paige Design, Matt of Martin City Brewing Company, and Zander of Kowasa Clothing Co. all took the stage to talk about their craft with the KSquared ladies. We heard how each speaker got their start, and learned interesting facts, like how actor Paul Rudd always stops in for a meal at Jasper’s any time he’s in Kansas City, and that Matt claims Jasper told him the pizza from the Martin City Brewery Pizza and Tap room is better than his wife’s!  Along with being entertained by the witty speakers, guests put their names in a drawing for door prizes as they came in, which were drawn throughout the evening. Prizes included a recipe book and gift card from Jasper’s Restaurant, a beautiful necklace from Erin Paige Designs, and Martin City restaurant gift cards, just to name a few.
