The Martin City Brewing Company has already been making a splash in the Kansas City dining scene. The Brewing Company features one-of-a-kind signature dishes, unique sandwiches, and seafood on their delicious seasonal menu.
Co-owner Matt Moore’s grandfather once owned and operated a pub in the same 100-year-old building that Martin City Brewing Company now occupies. Moore’s grandfather not only operated the Martin City Pub but also created the aforementioned Jess & Jim’s and R.C.’s Restaurant just down the street. When Moore bought the building back (after it housed a handful of businesses, including a Chinese restaurant), his goal was to convert it back into a small-town bar café.
The Brew Pub is already doing more business than our current location can handle,” says Moore. “And we don’t actually have a brewery yet.”
That’s about to change when Martin City Brewing Company opens a Pizza and Tap Room and craft microbrewery next door.
Moore has invested $320,000 in new equipment and $680,000 in rehab construction costs to bring the microbrewery to life. The attached Pizza & Taproom restaurant is expected to create at least 20 new jobs right away, however, if the success of the Martin City Brew Pub is any indication of what’s to come, this local microbrewery and restaurant concept will likely grow fast.
