Friday, May 12th, members of the Martin City Community Improvement District and the South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed MC Crossfit to Martin City! MC Crossfit held an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at their new location at 201 West 135th Street and we were excited to have Kansas City’s 6th District Council members, Scott Taylor and Kevin McManus in attendance to help us celebrate.
MC Crossfit is a high-intensity interval training gym with classes beginning as early as 5:30 a.m. to as late as 7 p.m. Whether you’re a seasoned Crossfit enthusiast, or a newbie to the workout scene, MC Crossfit’s trainers were on hand to help us get acquainted with the gym and all the fun stuff inside it! “We want people to be successful, so we train beginners with everything they need to know to join in on a class and know what’s going on without being overwhelmed,” said Brady Mora, MC Crossfit General Manager and also a trainer.
“We want people to be successful in meeting their goals so we work with beginners to learn the terms and exercises before they join in on group classes,” said Mora. MC Crossfit also created a “Kid Pit” in the center of the gym in order for parents to be near their children while they workout.
“We wanted to create a gym that was less intimidating than other Crossfit gyms,” said Nilson Goes, owner of MCCrossfit. “While those gyms are great, they can be overwhelming and intimidating to those new to Crossfit and we wanted to make it a little more welcoming here.”
MC Crossfit is very much centered around community and building relationships. They plan to take advantage of our close community already in place in Martin City. “We want our members to hang out and go eat down the street after they workout,’ said Mora. “You build friendships in Crossfit so grabbing some food and a beer afterward is a great way to unwind after a good workout.”
As a welcome gift, MC Crossfit is offering the month of May for FREE when you join! After May 31st, 60-minute classes are $20 per visit, or monthly memberships with unlimited visits start at $150 per month. MC Crossfit also offers a 15% discount to those who live or work in Martin City.
We were pleased to learn MC Crossfit made a point to use local Martin City companies when bringing this vision to life. All of the energy efficient electrical work was done by Infinite Energy. All LED lights were installed on the outside and throughout the building. Suburban Lawn & Garden helped with landscaping, while Grade A Tree Care came in to remove a few trees to increase visibility from 135th Street.
And our local Martin City Brew is even on tap in the MC Crossfit lounge to enjoy after a hard workout! (Turns out a beer after your workout is actually GOOD for you! Who knew?!) So, get your gym clothes on, lace up your sneakers and come out to see the brand new MC Crossfit!
