Now open with a drive-thru, all-day menu, and a lot of heart.

Craving an early breakfast in Martin City? You’re not alone, and now, you’re in luck. Family-owned Pegah’s Cafe & Coffee has cooked up a new era in the stand alone building on Holmes Road between Volleyball Beach and Rey De Oros Taqueria, bringing a welcome mix of coffee shop convenience and full-flavored comfort food.

This isn’t just another location of the well-known Pegah’s Family Restaurant chain. It’s a fresh take, spearheaded by second-generation owner Rameen Sharifi, who’s testing new ground while honoring the family’s longstanding hospitality roots. We chatted with him over coffee recently and came away impressed by five standout features that make his new cafe worth your morning, afternoon, or evening, stop.

1. A Snappy-Fast Drive-Thru

Many restaurants simply adapt to their buildings, but Pegah’s Cafe & Coffee chose this particular building to serve a vision. “We were looking for solid drive-thru infrastructure specifically,” says Sharifi, sitting with us next to a window as cars stream by outside to pick up orders. “We wanted the right space for fast casual with a perfect design for quick service, coffee, smoothies, frappuccinos, tea, and an array of food options. This building is exactly that.”

For rushing early risers and on-the-go lunch appetites, Pegah’s carefully-crafted drive-thru operation means you can skip the dine-in scene without sacrificing quality. If you want to slow down and eat inside, you can do that too. There’s also a nice patio out front with tables.

2. Online Ordering Built for Your Preferences

While still fine-tuning their new online system, Pegah’s is ahead of the game in customizing orders to give people what they actually want. “We know customers really appreciate customizations,” Sharifi explains. “And working to accommodate those preferences is a big source of pride for us. Our culture is built around it. Tell us how you like your order and we’ll make it work.”

3. Coffee That’s Expertly Brewed and Locally Flavored

Pegah’s serves coffee from Farmer Brothers, a Kansas City-favorite with a long-standing reputation. And they’ve staffed the cafe with people who know how to deliver the brand’s full flavor.

“I was a little nervous at first,” Sharifi admits. “We’re not a big coffee chain, but now we believe our coffee is just as good, if not better. And the response has been great! We hired people with coffee experience, and Farmer Brothers even trained them directly. I’m so proud of what we’re pouring.”

4. Breakfast That Actually Starts Early (and Doesn’t End)

Want a wrap first thing in the morning? A breakfast burrito in the afternoon? The menu is available all day. It’s a feature Sharifi feels strongly about.

“I’ve never understood why restaurants limit their menus throughout the day,” he says, throwing up his hands with a big smile. “If someone wants a particular item, give it to them, regardless of what time it is. If they want breakfast for dinner, do it.”

While the Martin City location doesn’t include the entire menu from Pegah’s Restaurant locations (no surf & turf or pancakes here), you’ll find favorites like biscuits and gravy, avocado toast, skillet bowls, and wraps that fit any hour. Take one look and you’ll agree, the menu certainly doesn’t seem ‘limited.’ They’re open through the dinner hour, so don’t be shy about stopping in for a wrap, salad, or sandwich in the evening.

5. It’s the Only Spot Like It in Martin City

Martin City is famous for its restaurants, but this is the only one streaming delightful diner scents through the neighborhood as early as 6:30am. “There’s such an appetite for breakfast in this part of Kansas City,” Sharifi emphasizes. “That’s what really sets us apart. We’ve got a variety of hot, traditional breakfast options early in the day.”

Throw in a cozy interior, grab-and-go bakery options, and a staff truly eager to serve, and you’ve got a concept that hits a sweet spot Martin City has been missing. Reviews so far are as good as we’ve ever seen, and we’re also excited by how much the Sharifi family has embraced our community.
