Restaurant brand builds on long success in our neighborhood with new location.
Nearly two decades after the Dos De Oros restaurant opened further north on Holmes Road, the same owners have unveiled Rey De Oros Taqueria inside the Martin City Community District. The taqueria operated for a long time at the corner of Blue Ridge Boulevard before relocating a few hundred yards south to 13115 Holmes.
“It’s a great day for our employees and our customers,” owner Miguel Cervantes told us as a mariachi band played in the background and a grand opening crowd lined up for the ribbon cutting. “Today is a day to celebrate and we are so happy to see everyone coming out to support us. We’re grateful they followed our taqueria here from the old location.”
Rey De Oros Taqueria has been a long time coming. Cervantes spent more than a year reinventing the old Martin City Coffee building in preparation for a new chapter in his restaurant brand’s long history.
The space has changed substantially, from the floor plan to the colors. Waiting on city inspections and permitting processes slowed down the opening effort, but by April 2024, remodeling was complete and the taqueria was finally ready to go.
“Our taqueria’s new location gives us more room to work and serve our customers. The drive-thru is a great addition, and when you include our patio space, we’ll be able to accommodate around 100 customers.”
The taqueria’s menu is anything but basic. You can choose from many meats and even vegetarian options. Try the sauces at the self-serve toppings bar, sip a margarita, and finish off your meal by choosing from a huge array of ice cream flavors.
Fans will tell you, Rey De Oros seems to have it all. Dine in, drive through, or run in and grab your takeout, seven days a week.
Taste for Community
Rey De Oros has worked hard to become a community favorite in Martin City, offering service that’s earned passionate loyalty from customers far beyond our neighborhood.
Even if you’ve never enjoyed a meal at the original Dos De Oros or the new Rey De Oros Taqueria, maybe you’ve seen Cervantes’ team at community events. For example, they cooked-up the star attraction at KC Running Company’s Taco Mile in 2023.
“We love Martin City. The people around here are so good,” says Cervantes, shaking hands with customers eager to snap a photo with him. “We want to do all we can here because it’s the right place for us to be.”
Rey De Oros joins long-time legend Margarita’s down the street and popular El Maguey on Martin City’s west side in creating an authentic south of the border niche within our neighborhood’s famous culinary scene. Good food, drinks, and homemade ice cream are just more tasty reasons to experience Martin City!
