Santa’s Favorite Shopping Stops in Martin City
Skip the cookie-cutter malls and big box store scramble this year and spend an afternoon in Martin City! Start off with a bite to eat at one of eight locally-owned restaurants in Martin City, and then head out to explore these Martin City retail stores Santa has on his “Nice” list.
Reno’s Powersports KC
Imagine their faces when something from Reno’s rolls up on Christmas morning! How about a kid-sized all-terrain vehicle for zipping around during the winter break from school. Cool, compact, and comfortable — fun doesn’t get much more fun than this!
Moms and dads can also find new and pre-owned motorcycles, ATVs, side by sides, scooters, and watercraft from Yamaha, Can-Am, Sea-Doo, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, and more. Sleek and stylish scooters are popular this year and accessories always make great stocking stuffers!
“We’re seeing a lot of year-end ATV purchases this month,” says General Manager Nick Mosakowski. “People like to put snow blade attachments on them to clear driveways and sidewalks in the winter. There are so many different jobs these side by side and other types of ATVs can handle. They’re really great, practical tools, and they’re fun to drive, too!”
Reno’s also has a 5-Star Certified Service Center and is recognized nationally as one of the best service dealerships in the country. A gift card for a tune-up, tires, an oil change or other maintenance service could be the perfect gift for the owner of a motorcycle, ATV, Side x Side, Jet Ski watercraft, or other motorsports vehicle.
The Gilded Lily
Holiday shopping in Martin City won’t be complete until you’ve visited this historic Gilded Lily house in the heart of Martin City. Built just east of the train tracks in 1905, the house one of the oldest properties in the area.
Step inside and you can’t help but drift toward the season’s bestsellers, including elegant perfumes, gourmet holiday treats and vintage wreaths, tabletop Santas, and tiny trees bursting with seasonal color. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience in a one-of-a-kind old home.
A Christmasy atmosphere abounds at Gilded Lily where owner Debbie Beachner is known for handcrafting stunning displays throughout the entire house. “It’s the best time of year to visit,” says Beachner. “Come by and boost your holiday spirit!”
The Sharper Edge
Right next door to the Gilded Lily is a specialty gardening store that carries unique stones, statuary, and organic horticulture and gardening supplies. The Sharper Edge is well known for its ultra-premium concrete edging service and a garden store that carries one of the largest selections of concrete statues, fountains, and hydroponic and organic gardening supplies in the region.
“Our Garden Center is really booming right now,” says owner Scott Rutledge. “It may be December, but a lot of our customers are busy cultivating indoor gardens and we have all the organic soils, nutrients, supplies, and equipment to support them.”
KC Running Company
KC Running Company’s retail store in Martin City carries top-of-the-line running and walking shoes, local apparel, sports bottles, Garmin watches, safety gear, ankle injury boots, splints, knee supports, products for plantar fasciitis, and more.
The store is staffed with real runners that are trained to perform gait analyses and specialized shoe sizing so you’re guaranteed to get the right fit. They also make custom shoe orthotics for all types of shoes.
The metallic tags that stick on water bottles, devices, and other objects are flying off the shelves right now. Hats, gloves, sunglasses, and a spectrum of local shirts and sweats are also in demand as the countdown to Christmas continues.
Habitat for Humanity ReStore
You won’t find prices like ReStore prices anywhere else in town — not kidding. All merchandise at Habitat ReStore in Martin City comes from donations and is priced for quick sale to raise money for Habitat for Humanity homes in Kansas City.
