September’s 3rd Thursday Wrap-Up!

Spread The Word!

A big THANK YOU goes out to everyone who attended our September Third Thursday event “The Martin Talks” with KSquared’s Katie Van Luchene and Kimberly Winter Stern! The Martin City Business and Community Association has been working with The Martin Event Space each month to plan this fun event, and we are so happy to see it growing like it has!

This month Rob Sight Ford and Premier Mazda collected donations of kids jeans and tennis shoes for the children at Martin City Elementary K-8. The dealership with the most donations by the end of Third Thursday was Rob Sight Ford with a whopping 248 pairs of shoes donated! Premier Mazda put up a good fight with 204 pairs of jeans donated! However, the real winners here are the kids of Martin City Elementary!

Guests enjoyed an array of complimentary decadent appetizers and cocktails from Martin City Brewing Company as they mingled before the ladies took the stage. Continuing the tradition, when the train blew its horn as it came through Martin City, everyone raised their glass and took a drink of their delicious red or white sangria’s!

Guest speaker, Joel Nichols, from KC Live, sat with Katie and Kimberly to talk about his journey to becoming a news anchor, his family and his love for Kansas City. He even modeled his fun socks, which Bubba John had to identify as Lobsters on one, and the other Abraham Lincoln!

Karyn Brooke, owner of Sidelines Custom Floral, joined the ladies on stage to talk about owning a floral shop that offers more than just flowers. Karyn did a live demo on how to decorate your table for the holidays with great tips such as using a scarf as a table runner, using unscented candles, and using what you already have around your home!

The final guests were Tim Smith of Premier Mazda and Rob Sight himself to talk about the donation drive! Both spoke about how they enjoy being part of the Martin City community and are honored to help the kids of Martin City Elementary with new jeans and shoes going in to the school year. While he was on stage, Rob Sight received surprise video call from Debbie Van Noy of Jess & Jim’s Steakhouse to announce that Reebok is donating 150 pairs of tennis shoes to the donation drive!

After the Martin Talks came to a close, guests were invited to dine out and “shop local” in the Martin City district, with several businesses extending their hours for the event. It was a gorgeous evening to walk down the new sidewalks to different businesses! Local business coupons were available on the “Specials Board” located near the entrance at The Martin.
