Why Businesses Need To Attend Candidate Forums

On Thursday, March 5th, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. the South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidate Forum introducing the candidates for the 5th and 6th City Council Districts.

Who should attend the forum? EVERYONE!

Here’s Why…

Four of the candidates at the forum will become the next elected officials, who over the next four years will have the power to make decisions about how businesses are treated, how City budgets are spent, and how public improvement funds are invested throughout the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

Your presence at this event will emphasize to the candidates the importance of a dialogue with business owners and property owners in Martin City. If you are not a registered voter in Kansas City, your attendance is especially important because it may be the first time a candidate is introduced to your business or issue.  Candidate forums are a great way to build partnerships and cultivate collaboration with business owners, property owners, and Council members.  The future growth of Martin City requires many partnerships.

A forum gives the candidates an opportunity to go on record regarding their position about supporting businesses and funding public improvements in Martin City. If business owners and property owners do not use the forum to share their issues and ideas, the candidate cannot be expected to make those issues a priority.

The forum is also a good place to raise the profile of Martin City and educate the candidates and voters about our community.  Your employees, vendors, suppliers, and customers could be casting votes for Council members. These voters need to know candidates’ priorities on business matters impacting their livelihood, and impacting the future growth of Martin City.
